The end of pc gaming?

is pc gaming dead? what really holds pc gaming together in the new console era? there is a minimal distance in the content available these days with a bare minimum amount of games being limited to one platform, and the titles that are limited are normally either a limited time or a title created purely for one system from the ground up, (ala the “newer” incarnations of the halo series, the god of war franchise, mario; etc)
so what does the pc hold dear? with no specific franchise as such being launched pc only, bar the Crysis games (then only due to performance issues) the RTS and MMO games, but then this is due to the poor support on consoles, nothing will ever come close to the precision and accuracy of a mouse and combinations of keys for mapping. however that then begs, the fps? surely the birth and growth of the fps as a mouse and keyboard generation then “evolving” to 2 simple sticks and auto aim, reduced sensitivity, much less responsivity and a lower degree of analogue use, surely they should still belong on pc? but with the increase in nerd rage 15 year old american kids believing that their sole purpose in life is to be better and more irritating than anyone else, and the age of the average console gamer actually increasing (let alone the increase in 15 and 18 rated titles) are consoles pushing to devour the pc market?
realistically the only real benefits to pc gaming are the input methods, and with the ease of console gaming and its more “drop in/out” friendly gameplay, (as demostrated so clearly by the formidable Borderlands), the way you dont need to upgrade your console to be able to compete without a sluggish response time and frame rate. will the increase in the ease of use in consoles be the death of pc gaming? if you realistically had the chance to press a power button, press play, then within 2 minutes be in a game, or turn a pc on, wait for it to boot, load a game, find a server, join a game, no doubt find someone already cheating, realise your framerate is awful and your latency is so high you cant play then quit, which would you prefer?

with the coming christmas (dare i say it) and the massive increase in fast paced action games, with a story and character development, do we need pc gaming anymore? the only real issues would be the porting of RTS and MMO games to consoles, but with a bit of practice suerly this would be a matter of months not years?

Who knows..
